GENEVA (13 August 2018) - The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination today concluded its consideration of the combined fourteenth to seventeenth periodic report of China on measures taken to implement the provisions of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.
While Australia's Uighurs are still able to celebrate their ancient culture in music and dance, their compatriots in China's north-west Xinjiang province are ever more widely reported as being arrested without charge, sent to political "re-education" camps, or simply disappearing altogether.
In a region to the far west of China, whole families are disappearing.
